Construction is beginning on a new section of the Atlanta BeltLine’s Northwest Trail, advancing a long-planned connection between the Westside and Buckhead.
Northwest Trail Segment 3B will extend for nearly one mile from Trabert Avenue toward Tanyard Creek Park. The project includes a pedestrian bridge over Northside Drive, one of the most significant physical barriers along the route.
The segment is designed to improve access among Berkeley Park, Collier Hills, Ardmore and nearby neighborhoods. It will also connect with other completed and planned portions of the Northwest Trail as the BeltLine works toward a continuous 22-mile mainline loop.

How the project fits into the BeltLine
Atlanta BeltLine reports that 16.7 miles of the planned 22-mile mainline trail are complete. The broader Northwest Trail is the remaining major section needed to link existing trails across the city’s northwest side.
The Segment 3B work follows years of design, right-of-way coordination and community planning. The new bridge and trail connection are intended for people walking, running and cycling, while also tying into neighborhood streets and parks.

Construction schedules can change as work progresses. Residents can follow official project updates through the Atlanta BeltLine.
