Georgia’s first Potbelly is already serving customers in Chamblee, and its opening celebration is still ahead. The sandwich shop opened September 1 at Peachtree Station, with a grand-opening event scheduled for Saturday, September 19, from 10 a.m. to noon.
Those are two different dates: residents do not have to wait until Saturday to try the restaurant. The celebration adds a ribbon cutting and promotional activities to a shop that is already operating. The official location page lists the address as 5001 Peachtree Boulevard, Suite 640, Chamblee.
What is happening at the celebration?
According to Atlanta News First’s September 15 report, the first 50 guests will receive a promotion described as free Potbelly for a year. The event also includes Plinko games, prizes and other giveaways.
The announcement does not spell out the redemption frequency, qualifying menu items or other limitations attached to the yearlong offer. It should not be read as unlimited free meals. Customers interested primarily in the giveaway should ask the shop for its written terms and how the first 50 places will be determined.
For everyone else, Saturday is an opportunity to see the new restaurant during its launch event. The promotional window ends at noon; that is not the same as the restaurant closing for the day. A weekday visit may be the simpler choice for someone who only wants to order lunch without arranging the trip around a giveaway.
What is on the menu?
Potbelly’s Georgia launch announcement describes a menu built around oven-toasted sandwiches, with wraps, salads, hand-dipped shakes and freshly baked cookies. The company also lists pickup, delivery and catering as ordering options.
Use the current menu and select the Chamblee shop before comparing prices or placing an order. A national menu is useful for browsing, but the final location-specific checkout is the place to confirm the items and total you will actually receive. A photograph of a sandwich is not a full ingredient or allergen list.
For an office order, check the number of people, pickup time and any dietary requirements before choosing between individual meals and catering. That is especially important during an opening promotion, when ordering for a group and attending a giveaway can involve different lines, timing and conditions.
The expansion has an Atlanta connection
Although Potbelly began in Chicago in 1977, its new Georgia presence connects it with the hometown of its owner. Atlanta-based RaceTrac acquired the chain in 2025 in a transaction valued at $566 million, according to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution’s August reporting.
The AJC identified Chamblee and Cumming among the initial Georgia locations and reported that franchise operators were scouting additional communities across metro Atlanta. In September, the company described an agreement for 15 shops over seven years. Those are development plans, not 15 additional restaurants that customers can visit today.
The Chamblee shop is in a Whole Foods-anchored shopping center, not a counter inside a RaceTrac convenience store. The AJC separately reported that RaceTrac was exploring places where the two brands could share a site. That possibility is a different expansion format. A change in corporate ownership does not mean every gas station will start serving the sandwich chain’s menu, and a standalone restaurant opening should not be confused with a chainwide rollout inside convenience stores.
Before heading to Peachtree Station
The company’s opening announcement lists regular hours of 10 a.m.–10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 10 a.m.–11 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Confirm local hours with the shop before a late visit: the location page’s displayed times differ from the launch announcement, so the opening release should not be treated as a permanent schedule.
