On August 20th, Atlanta Track Club will hold their annual Atlanta’s Finest 5K run. This month, you can take a jog with some of Atlanta’s most respected officers from the force, here are 6 more reasons why you should run WITH the cops.
1. Fast and flat course.
If you’re looking to start getting active and never been apart of a 5K run, this is the perfect event for you to get started with. Running uphill takes way more energy and running downhill can increase the impact on joints and more, flat course are perfect for starters.
2. Atlanta’s Beautiful Scenery
Atlanta has an amazing downtown area and this race takes you along the Centennial Olympic Park, World of Coke, Georgia Aquarium, CNN Center, Center for Civil and Human Rights, and more.
3. Benefits the Atlanta’s Police Department
Police officers have been going through a lot recently, this can be a way to show your support for all the hard work that they do. All funds will support the “Crime Stoppers” a tip company dedicated to help police officer solve crimes.
4. You pick your distance
If you believe 5K is too much you can choose to run one mile. If you want to bring the kids, there’s even a 50 meter dash for children 6 years old and under.
5. Entertainment
After the race there’s a lot of interesting things runners can check out to cool off. From APD’s squad cars, APD’s horses to the local tourist attractions, there’s so much fun to be apart of after the run.
6. Race is Open to ALL Abilities
Like all Atlanta Track Club events, this race is open to runners and walkers of all abilities.
