$750 Million ‘Hunger Games’ Theme Park Placed on Hold

By GAFollowers @GAFollowers · On December 13, 2016

After much anticipation of a theme park dedicated to one of the most successful series to hit the big screen, construction on a Hunger Games theme park has been placed on hold.

Just one year after being announced, officials with Avatron Smart Park says the Lionsgate themed park that was set to come to north Atlanta is, “being placed on hold indefinitely”.

Plans for the massive development had included a 200-acre theme park; two hotels; a 300,000-square-foot retail center; and a 10,000-square-foot amphitheater.

The first signs of trouble arose last January when the scheduled groundbreaking came and went. Avatron said the financing still was not finalized and the land transaction had not closed.

There was a lot of excitement around this!

Lionsgate officially confirmed today that a 700-acre Hunger Games theme park is coming to Bartow County, the first of its kind in the U.S.
