Atlanta firefighters pulled a construction worker to safety Tuesday morning after he fell about 20 feet into a narrow sewer access in Buckhead.
Crews responded to 3463 Roxboro Road NE after the worker fell from a ladder into an opening less than four feet wide. FOX 5 reported the worker remained conscious and was able to communicate with rescuers while trapped below.

A confined-space rescue
Atlanta Fire Rescue crews monitored the underground atmosphere and ventilated the space before sending a rescue team down with supplied air and a dedicated communication line.
Firefighters secured the worker in a harness and used a tripod-supported rope system to raise him back to street level. The rescue required confined-space procedures because of the depth and narrow opening.
Cause of the fall remains unclear
Officials have not identified the worker or released a detailed medical condition. Authorities also have not said what caused him to fall from the ladder.
The rescue ended with the worker safely removed from the underground access, and no firefighter injuries were reported in the initial account.
