ATLANTA — About 2,000 people took part in the 2026 Big Peach Sizzler on Labor Day, bringing runners and walkers through Chamblee, Brookhaven and Buckhead for one of metro Atlanta’s established holiday races.
Organizers reported a record number of 5K participants and the largest 10K field since the pandemic, according to Atlanta News First.
Two starts and one Buckhead finish
The 5K began near the Brookhaven MARTA station at 7 a.m. The 10K started near Chamblee at 7:30 a.m. Both courses finished near Buckhead Station, where participants gathered for a post-race celebration.
The event’s point-to-point format follows the gentler section of Peachtree Road and avoids the better-known Cardiac Hill portion used during the Peachtree Road Race.
The Big Peach Sizzler has been a Labor Day tradition for roughly 16 years. The event welcomes competitive runners, walkers, stroller participants and several assisted-athlete divisions.
Running to support people with cystic fibrosis
The race benefits BreatheStrong CF, a Georgia-based nonprofit that supports individuals and families affected by cystic fibrosis. Its programs include exercise grants, critical-needs assistance and virtual wellness resources.
Organizers said the Sizzler consistently raises more than six figures for grants and services. Beyond fundraising, the event is intended to encourage physical activity and community connections for people living with cystic fibrosis.
