Flu Activity Rises in Georgia During the Holiday Season

By GAFollowers @GAFollowers · On December 24, 2018

ATLANTA (FOX 5 Atlanta) – The flu is here for the holidays.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Georgia is the sickest state in the U.S. right now.

There are more confirmed flu cases here than in any other state.

Just last week, the CDC said the flu season was off to a slow start, but a couple of days ago the number of reported cases rose, leading the head of the CDC to announce that flu season is now officially underway.

Officials are urging everyone six months and older to get a flu shot.

They say it’s especially important during the holidays when people are travelling to see family.

As for preventing the spread of flu, the CDC recommends that you stay home for at least 24 hours after your fever is gone.
