Fresh Coat Painters Look to ‘Paint It Forward’ at Camp Twin Lakes

By Rick Limpert @RickRoswell · On February 2, 2015

Medical rooms given a “fresh coat” at camp for children with serious illnesses.

Fresh Coat Painters, a leading residential and commercial painting company with a focus on customer service and professionalism, today announced its locations in Atlanta, Georgia, and the surrounding areas will give rooms at Camp Twin Lakes’ Medical Lodge a “fresh coat” on Monday, Feb. 2 as part of its nationwide “Paint It Forward” initiative.

If you don’t know about all the good work that goes on at Camp Twin Lakes, you should.

For 21 years, Camp Twin Lakes has provided life-changing camp experiences to Georgia’s children with serious illnesses, disabilities and other life challenges. It serves more than 9,900 campers each year.

10 rooms inside the state-of-the-art Medical Lodge at Camp Twin Lakes’ Rutledge location will be transformed, including patient bedrooms, exam rooms, nurse’s stations and a pharmacy. The Medical Lodge is used to accommodate children who require medical attention while at camp, including chemotherapy and dialysis treatments as well as lab tests.

The project, anticipated to take more than 60 hours and 25 gallons of Sherwin-Williams environmentally-safe paint, is scheduled to be completed in just one day.

Professional painters across all Atlanta-area Fresh Coat locations, including those in Buford, Columbus, Lawrenceville, Marietta and Roswell, will join together to complete the project on time.

“Going to camp provides children with the chance to escape the medical environment they’re used to and just enjoy being a kid. To make that possible, it’s important to maintain positive morale and cheerful surroundings,” said Eric Robbins, chief executive officer, Camp Twin Lakes. “By adding a new splash of color to the walls, Fresh Coat will help to provide this comforting atmosphere that will surely keep our campers in bright spirits while receiving treatment in the Medical Lodge.”

One local Fresh Coat owner and his family may get more out this experience than the others. At just 10 years old, Mike Byars’ son was diagnosed with brain cancer. As a child, going to Camp Twin Lakes was the highlight of his son’s summers.

Kudos to Fresh Coat Painters for going over and above to help Camp Twin Lakes.

“Fresh Coat refreshes thousands of spaces each month, bringing new life and inspiration to homes and businesses in communities across the country. By painting it forward in the same communities that we operate, we hope to share the joy a new coat of paint can bring to deserving charities and individuals, such as Camp Twin Lakes,” said Byars. “Personally, I am excited to collaborate with our locations across the Atlanta area to give back to a place that has brought so much joy to my son’s life.”

Paint It Forward is a nation-wide initiative by Fresh Coat Painters to brighten up the homes or offices of those that deserve a fresh space across the country.

Eric Ascencio, previous co-owner of a Fresh Coat Painters franchise in Houston, Texas. Eric had made it his mission to be an inspiration for other cancer patients and to give back to those in his community, leaving behind a legacy when he recently lost his battle with the disease.

To honor Ascencio’s memory, the Paint It Forward program has now been adopted by Fresh Coat locations across the country, with Paint It Forward programs planned throughout the year.
