A Fayetteville family celebrated an extraordinary milestone Saturday as Mabel Dunbar marked her 112th birthday surrounded by loved ones.
Dunbar was born in Jamaica on September 5, 1914. She moved to Florida to live with her daughter in 1994 and relocated to Fayetteville in August 2025, where she now lives with her granddaughter and grandson-in-law.
A family spanning generations
The celebration included a crown, cake and family members representing several generations. Dunbar is a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, and her extended family continues to gather around her.
Relatives described her as active and deeply grounded in her faith. Dunbar’s own message about longevity focused on love, family and her belief in God.
Dunbar’s 112th birthday arrives at a time when reaching the supercentenarian threshold—age 110 or older—remains an exceptionally rare achievement.
