Two men face more than 90 combined warrants after Gwinnett County investigators said a handheld key-programming device was connected to the theft of at least 25 vehicles during a nine-week period this summer.
Court records identified the defendants as Jamal Worley, 21, and Ny’Kari Nimes, 20. The warrants include allegations of theft by taking, conspiracy and possession of tools for a crime. Both men remained in custody when WSB-TV published its September 8 report.
Investigators said every vehicle taken was either an Infiniti or Nissan Maxima. Reported thefts occurred around apartment communities in Lawrenceville, Norcross, Snellville, Lilburn and Duluth.
Police said vehicle owners can reduce risk by parking in well-lit areas and using visible deterrents such as steering-wheel locks. Officials have not said whether additional suspects or victims are expected.
All charges are allegations. The defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
