A Gwinnett County scooter rider remains hospitalized with life-threatening injuries after a driver entered the opposing lane to pass slow traffic and struck him, according to a police crash report cited by WSB-TV.
The collision happened just before 6 p.m. on September 1 at Arc Way and Willow Wood Way. The rider was traveling home from work, according to the report.
What witnesses and the driver told police
Witnesses told police that the driver appeared impatient with slow-moving traffic and drove around vehicles in the eastbound lane. The driver told officers she believed the opposing lane was clear and did not see the scooter until the collision.

The crash report described the rider’s head injuries as life-threatening. His family said he was placed in an induced coma. No one in the driver’s vehicle reported injuries.
