The mother of 25-year-old aspiring singer Jaylon “JBake” Baker is asking the person who killed her son in downtown Atlanta to surrender as police continue searching for leads in the September 2 homicide.
Atlanta police found Baker dead shortly after noon in the 400 block of Centennial Olympic Park Drive NW. FOX 5 spoke with his mother, Genese Baker, who said her son had loved singing, dancing and performing since childhood.
Police have released few details
Officers were called to the area around 12:07 p.m. for a report of a person down. Baker was not alert, conscious or breathing when officers arrived and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to CBS Atlanta’s report citing APD.
Investigators have classified the death as a homicide but have not publicly identified a suspect or released a description of the shooter. No surveillance footage has been made public in the reporting reviewed.
Genese Baker said she laid her son to rest earlier this month and wants the person responsible to let the legal process take over before anyone else is hurt.
A reward is being offered
Crime Stoppers Atlanta is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to an arrest and indictment. Anonymous tips can be submitted at 404-577-TIPS (8477).
The next significant development will be an identification, arrest or new evidence released by Atlanta police. Until then, investigators are asking anyone who knows what happened on Centennial Olympic Park Drive that day to come forward.
