Family members, fellow officers and communities across Georgia are honoring Warm Springs Police Sgt. Chris Fisher with funeral services and a law-enforcement procession in Fayetteville on Tuesday, September 8.
Visitation was scheduled from 1 to 3 p.m. at Flat Creek Baptist Church, followed by a 3 p.m. funeral service. Organizers announced that the procession would travel from the church along Highway 54 and Jeff Davis Road to Mowell Funeral Home.

Gov. Brian Kemp announced that flags would be lowered at the State Capitol and in Meriwether, Fayette and Heard counties in Fisher’s honor. Drivers along the announced procession route were advised to expect temporary traffic impacts.
Remembering a life of service
Fisher, 36, was killed September 1 while on duty in Warm Springs. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation said he was sitting in his patrol car after an unrelated traffic stop when another vehicle pulled beside him and its driver opened fire. The GBI investigation remains active.
According to his obituary, Fisher served five years in the U.S. Army before working in law enforcement in Heard, Fayette and Meriwether counties and with the Warm Springs Police Department. He is survived by his wife, two children and extended family.
