17 Cheap Date Ideas in Atlanta

Going on a first date anytime soon? Are you already in a relationship and want to try some new things around Atlanta? Or are you a visitor and want to take someone out to try some things in Atlanta? Maybe even if you are a young couple in high school, college, or fresh out of school that need a cheap date idea  Here are 17 cheap date ideas to do in Atlanta

1. A Stroll in the Park

Can never go wrong with going on a nice walk in the park. Atlanta is known as the “city in a forest” because of its unique tree canopy. Going on a walk in Centennial Olympic Park, Piedmont Park, and even Stone Mountain is always a great idea for a date. When the weather is warm, you could also plan a picnic out in the open air.

2. Drive-in Movies

Movies these days are not cheap. Luckily, at Starlight Drive-In, movies are only $8 per adult. You can enjoy a movie without getting out of your car.

3. Beer and a Burger

4.  Drink a Coke… Or a hundred

The World of Coca-Cola is another great place to take a date. Learn the history of Coca-Cola and try out the different flavors of Coke. Tickets are reasonably cheap and always have discounts on sites like Groupon.

5. Wine Tasting

If you decide to take a trip out of the city about 40 minutes north, the Sharp Mountain Vineyards offers wine tasting for a very cheap price. Not only can you go taste wine, but also has a picnic on the property which is located in a beautiful scenery between two mountains.

6. Food Trucks

Food trucks are one of the city’s biggest trends. Head on over to Howell Mill and check out the variety of foods at the small food truck park. Be daring and adventurous in trying the different types of food.

7. Taste the World

Buford Highway is home to an international taste of food! From Vietnamese to Bahn Mi, you and your date will enjoy different cultures delicacies.

8. Stargazing

Located just northeast of the city, visit the Fernbank Science Center to go see the stars. For $7 per person, you and your date can stargaze together.

9. Dive In

10. Stone Mountain

Nothing like taking a hike and having a picnic at Stone Mountain. Between $10-20, you and your date can go nearby and have a nice romantic picnic than a regular dinner and a movie.

11. Oakland Cemetery

Something spooky and adventurous to do is to take your date to the Oakland Cemetery. For basically free, you can go check out some of the famous Georgians that are buried in this cemetery.

12. Atlantic Station

Taking a nice walk around Atlantic Station is good for a free date. But if you’re planning to eat or shop there, prepare to bring some money.

13. Atlanta’s Art

Atlanta has a great art scene. With museums like the Center for Puppetry Arts, Atlanta Cylorama, or the Atlanta Contemporary Art Center, you and these exhibits. Also, you could explore the city and look at the graffiti art around the city.

14. Go With The Wind

Atlanta is home for Margaret Mitchell and her book “Gone with the Wind”. Margaret Mitchell’s House is a big tourist attraction in Atlanta and at a cheap price of $13 per adult, you can lean more about the author.

15. Go Underground

Go enjoy the street performers, some shopping, and the food in Underground Atlanta. No matter what the weather is like, you and your date will enjoy seeing this historic part of the city.

16. History of Atlanta

For under $20, you can go and learn about the history of Atlanta (if that’s your kind of thing). The Atlanta History Center is $16.50 per adult, but can save money if you buy the tickets early online.

17. Redbox Night

Can’t go wrong going to a Redbox location and renting a few movies while staying home to watch a movie. Invite your date over and have a simple night at home.
