Metro Atlanta’s weekend is trending toward a split forecast: a mostly dry Saturday followed by a much wetter Sunday, when widespread rain and thunderstorms are expected to become more likely.
Atlanta News First’s Friday-night and early Saturday forecast calls Saturday the better day for outdoor plans, with only a limited chance of a passing shower.

Saturday should have more dry time
Saturday is expected to remain cloudy and muggy, with a roughly 30% chance of a passing shower or storm. Dense fog is also possible early in the morning before visibility improves.
The forecast does not call for an all-day washout Saturday, but anyone with outdoor plans should still keep an eye on radar because scattered showers can develop quickly.
Sunday is the higher-impact weather day
Sunday has been designated a First Alert Weather Day, with more widespread rain expected, especially during the afternoon and evening from Atlanta southward.
Forecasters say cooler, drier weather should return next week, with highs dropping into the 70s. Because timing can still shift, residents should check an updated forecast before Sunday travel or outdoor events.
