A Carroll County judge sentenced Bryan Myers to life with the possibility of parole plus 30 years Tuesday after a jury convicted him of kidnapping a Villa Rica police officer during a 2025 traffic stop.
The case stems from a March 12, 2025 stop involving Officer Victoria Hamilton. According to prosecutors, Hamilton stopped Myers for a tag-light violation and later asked him to step out of his vehicle after smelling marijuana.

The West Georgia Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office said Myers tried to get back into the driver’s seat during a struggle, put the vehicle in drive and accelerated while Hamilton was still partially inside the open door.
Prosecutors said Myers tried to push Hamilton out while reaching for a loaded gun in his waistband. Hamilton managed to press the brake and escape before Myers ran toward the woods. A gun fell from his waistband during the escape, authorities said.
A Carroll County jury convicted Myers earlier this month of kidnapping, aggravated assault on a peace officer and firearm offenses.
The sentence follows a completed jury trial
Unlike an arrest-stage case, the core criminal allegations in this matter have already been tested at trial and resulted in convictions. Myers’ sentence leaves open the possibility of parole on the life term while adding another 30 years to serve.
Prosecutors have not publicly detailed the full extent of Hamilton’s injuries. The next phase of the case could include post-trial motions or an appeal.
