A Clayton County police officer and another driver were taken to a hospital Friday after a two-vehicle crash on Highway 19/41 in Griffin, authorities said.
The Clayton County Police Department said one of its patrol vehicles collided with another car along the highway. FOX 5 Atlanta reported that both drivers were transported for medical evaluations.

The officer was treated and released
Police said the officer suffered minor injuries and was later released from the hospital. The medical condition of the other driver had not been publicly disclosed in the initial update.
Officials also said the Clayton County officer was not responding to an emergency call or otherwise engaged in official law-enforcement activity at the time of the collision.
Georgia State Patrol is investigating
Because the crash involved a department vehicle, the Georgia State Patrol is handling the independent investigation. Troopers had not released a cause or said whether any citation would be issued.
The next update is expected to clarify what led to the crash and the condition of the second driver.
