Earthquake Shakes Sparta, Georgia Amongst Severe Storms

By GAFollowers @GAFollowers · On April 5, 2017

What the hell is going on in Georgia? Ever since our Super Bowl loss in February we’ve suffered something major each month. March was the I-85 collapse and April starts off with tornadoes, severe thunderstorms and now an earthquake?

Residents in Sparta, Georgia reported feeling a 2.5 magnitude earthquake Wednesday night.

The United States Geological Survey confirmed the reported quake took place in Hancock county just before 10 p.m. (9:51pm) on Monday.

As of 10 p.m., there was no damage reported.

The largest earthquake ever recorded on the Richter magnitude scale (the standard for measuring earthquakes) was a 9.5 magnitude earthquake in Chile, in May 1960.
