The Falcons’ home opener is a Sunday-afternoon trip to Mercedes-Benz Stadium, but getting from your front door to your seat deserves a little planning of its own. Atlanta hosts the Carolina Panthers on September 20, 2026, at 1 p.m. Eastern, according to the stadium’s game listing.
This guide is about the practical side of the day: picking a way downtown, understanding the bag rules and leaving enough time to get inside. It is separate from a game preview, and it does not assume that a ticket includes parking, a particular entrance privilege or a promotional giveaway.
Make the transportation decision first

The stadium’s dedicated fan guidelines allow clear plastic, vinyl or PVC bags no larger than 12 by 6 by 12 inches. They also allow a one-gallon clear plastic freezer bag. Small non-clear bags may be no larger than 4.5 by 6.5 inches, with or without a handle or strap.
A clear bag still needs to meet the dimensions. A familiar handbag is not automatically acceptable because it worked at another venue. Lay out the essentials, measure the bag and check the prohibited-items list before starting the drive. The stadium specifically includes noncompliant diaper bags and camera bags in its restrictions.
Treat arrival time and kickoff as different things
A 1 p.m. kickoff does not mean reaching a parking lot at 12:55 p.m. will get you to your seat in time. Build your own buffer for the walk, screening, finding your section and any food stop. A first-time visitor should leave more room for orientation than someone who already knows the building.

Plan food and accessibility around your group
