No. 3 Georgia opened its 2026 season with a 63-3 win over Tennessee State on Saturday, pairing a fast offensive start with a defense that gave the Tigers almost no room to operate.
With the temperature near 100 degrees at kickoff in Athens, Georgia scored four touchdowns in the first quarter and led 35-3 by halftime. Tennessee State finished the opening quarter without a yard of offense.
Stockton and Frazier set the pace
Quarterback Gunner Stockton completed 15 of 16 passes for 202 yards and three touchdowns. Running back Nate Frazier added 72 rushing yards and three scores, including a 48-yard touchdown run on Georgia’s third offensive play.
The Bulldogs piled up 660 total yards while holding Tennessee State to 109. The 60-point margin and 63 points were both the largest in a Georgia season opener during Kirby Smart’s tenure, according to the school’s postgame notes.
An emphatic first meeting
Saturday’s game was the first football meeting between Georgia and Tennessee State. It also extended the Bulldogs’ season-opening winning streak to 13 games and gave the team a clean first step before the schedule becomes more demanding.
