Ribbon Cutting June 1 at LakePoint Sports

By Rick Limpert @RickRoswell · On June 1, 2016

LakePoint Sports is adding yet another state-of-the-art venue to its more than 1300+ acre development in Emerson, Ga. with the opening of the new 170,000 SF Indoor Facility located at 261 Stars Way Cartersville, GA 30121. This is the largest display of continuous hardwood flooring under one roof in the world, the LakePoint Indoor Facility will host a ribbon cutting on June 1 starting at 11 a.m. for VIPs and LakePoint partners such as Bobby Cox, Fredi Gonzalez and Ned Yost. The public is invited from 3 – 6 p.m. for the ultimate showcase of sports, entertainment, a B2B Expo and a Sports Alley, featuring some of the top sports teams in Atlanta.

“LakePoint has attracted some of the premier organizations in their respective sports, and we look forward to opening this facility for big seven sports like basketball, volleyball, cheer, dance, wrestling, gymnastics and martial arts,” said LakePoint Sports Co-CEO Earl Ehrhart. “LakePoint has had a large economic impact on North Georgia for the past two years. The opening of the Indoor facility will increase the demand and drive business to this area year-round.”

LakePoint’s economic impact has been vast. Prior to the opening of the Indoor facility, the economic impact LakePoint has had on Bartow County yielded more than $177 million in tourism revenue. As the development progresses, LakePoint has hired a total of 230 part time staff seasonally for the summer of 2016. The development maintains 25 full-time and 60 part-time staff members throughout the year, with projections of more than 26,000 jobs being created throughout the entire development. With more than 100 days already booked for the Indoor facility for the remainder of 2016, Bartow County has seen in the first five months of the year an increase of 11 percent in hotel demand, which has led to a 19 percent increase in hotel generated revenue – doubling the Georgia average.

The innovative design of the new Indoor facility at LakePoint includes the following features:

• 125,500 SF clear-span hardwood flooring (which equates to 136 miles of hardwood and if stretched end-to-end it could reach to space and back with 12 miles to spare)
• 35’ minimum ceiling clearance
• 12 basketball courts
• 24 volleyball courts
• 2 digital scoreboards and shot clocks per court
• 9 Meeting Rooms
• Food Court
• 9-screen video walls inside front entrance
• VIP Mezzanine
• Capacity to hold 620 10×10 exhibit spaces

Events already contracted for 2016 in the Indoor facility include, Adidas Uprising Basketball tournament, Varsity Cheer and ATA Karate, to name a few.

“With the addition of the Indoor sports facility, we are reaffirming our commitment to being the premier sports vacation destination for families,” said Ehrhart. “My hope is for every player and parent that visits us feels a sense of importance in what we’re doing, because LakePoint is for them, and for the future of youth sports.”

As part of the initial phase of market entry and proof of concept, LakePoint seized partnerships with elite sports operators such as Perfect Game Baseball, Rally Volleyball and Terminus Wake Park. Boasting baseball competition that is second to none, with beautiful turf fields, a state-of-the-art lighting system, and scout towers with views of every field, LakePoint has attracted media, scouts and players from all over the country. Repeat guests have witnessed tremendous growth, and the first indoor guest will witness something truly special in the industry – the Southeast’s first state-of-the-art sport-specific stay and play tournament hub. LakePoint is re-defining what it means to plan a family vacation.
