A Flood Watch remains in effect for the Augusta area and several east-central Georgia counties through Sunday morning as additional heavy rainfall remains possible.
The National Weather Service says the watch includes Burke, Columbia, Lincoln, McDuffie and Richmond counties in Georgia. Augusta, Evans, Martinez, Thomson, Waynesboro and Lincolnton are among the communities listed in the watch area.
An earlier Flood Advisory for Richmond County and parts of Burke, Columbia and McDuffie counties expired at 5:45 p.m. Saturday. The broader Flood Watch remains active because excessive runoff could still cause flooding of creeks, streams, low-lying roads and poor-drainage areas.
NWS said periods of heavy rainfall could continue, with several inches possible across parts of the CSRA. Check the latest National Weather Service Georgia alerts for changes.
