On the heels of the success of this summer’s BB&T Atlanta Open (ATP World Tour event), for the first time in a number years, professional women’s tennis returns to the Metro Atlanta area with the One Love Tennis Open in Peachtree Corners.

Women’s professional tennis returns to metro Atlanta this September, as some of the top women professional tennis players in the world will be taking to the courts of Lifetime Athletic and Tennis Peachtree Corners for this $50,000 Women’s USTA Pro Circuit event.

Players will compete in singles and doubles and a 32-woman qualifying event will start on Sunday, September 11, 2016. The finals are scheduled for Sept. 18.

Many players that will play in Peachtree Corners will be top-100 WTA players or have spent time in the top-100 in the world.

“We will have players who will .have just competed on the biggest stage in tennis, the U.S. Open,” stated Tournament Director Turhan Berne. “No city plays and supports tennis like Atlanta does, and it’s been over five years since there has women’s professional tennis in the metro area.”

Berne says there will be a strong crop of international players entered, while local players will also have an opportunity to pick up valuable WTA ranking points heading into the fall.

“Our event falls at an important time on the player’s calendar. Players who had runs at the U.S. Open will be looking to continue that momentum at Lifetime.”

USTA Pro Circuit events typically are a “proving ground” for young players and a way of getting back inside the top-50 for many veteran competitors. Berne, an experienced tournament director, who runs the biggest local tennis events in Atlanta has a player’s party, clinic and Pro-Am planned for the week.

There will also be a “Wildcard Tournament” that will be held Aug. 26-28 at Lifetime for high-level local players to earn entry into qualifying. Email TurhanBerne@gmail.com for more information. Entry deadline is Aug. 22.

Tickets will be available soon, and volunteers will be needed to fill important roles. This is also the perfect opportunity to get your company or organization involved in as a partner or sponsor. USTA Pro Circuit events not only receive local and regional coverage and exposure, they garner national and international attention.
