A 51-year-old McDonough woman accused of encouraging her granddaughter to attempt suicide will be released without bond after making an appearance in a Henry County courtroom on Thursday.
Police said Yvette Lucas encouraged the 14-year-old girl to take prescription pain medication in an attempt to kill herself.
Lucas has been charged with first-degree cruelty to children.
Lucas is expected to be released sometime Thursday evening, according to a spokesperson with the Henry County Jail.
