Sweet Auburn BBQ Perfect for Dad’s Day

By Rick Limpert @RickRoswell · On June 15, 2018

Sunday Brunch typically offers an array of savory plates along with delicious cocktails to get the day going. Whether you are enjoying time after a family outing or looking to unwind and catch up with friends this location promises some delightful dishes. Sweet Auburn BBQ is known for their classic slow smoked meats, award winning barbecue and signature sides but on Sundays between the time of 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM the menu offers something different. Cam Floyd, the Executive Chef of Sweet Auburn BBQ, has recently made changes to the menu and has definitely added some new mouth-watering plates to the table.

We had the opportunity to meet Executive Chef Cam Floyd and taste some of the new menu items as well. I will begin by providing some of my favorite dishes from different categories; Small Plates, Brunch Plates, Dessert and Cocktails. The small plate that stood out the most was the Pimento Cheese Wontons, which are filled with bacon marmalade and includes sweet thai chili sauce. The Breakfast Burrito was an exceptional brunch plate that is made of a flour tortilla filled with house made sausage, potato hash, tillamook mornay, 2 eggs, sambal pickles and scallions. A flavorful French Seventy-Five had been paired alongside the meal, the cocktail’s ingredients included vodka, lemon, simple syrup and a grapefruit combier. The meal was then brought to a close with a gooey and freshly made, warm cinnamon roll.

Additional Plates During the Tasting (More recommendations to be enjoyed and shared)

Small Plates
Bucket of Muffins: Assortment of fruit muffins served with sorghum butter & jam

Brunch Plates
Smoked Chicken Hash: Charred smoked chicken, potato hash, roasted corn, spinach, 2 eggs, cheddar and roasted tomato aioli
Country Breakfast Plate: Two eggs cooked to order, house sausage or bacon, potato hash
Sunday Best: 2 eggs, house made sausage or bacon, 3 buttermilk pancakes with bourbon fruit compote and whipped cream

If you’re still in search for ideas for Father’s day this upcoming Sunday June 17th between the hours of 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Sweet Auburn BBQ will be holding a special brunch. The first 50 dads will receive a free pint of their BBQ sauce!
