Newk’s Expanding in Georgia, Second Location Open in Kennesaw

By Rick Limpert @RickRoswell · On October 12, 2018

I like to call Newk’s Eatery, “The Chain Restaurant that Feels Local.”

Newk’s was just named “Best Overall Experience in Fast Casual” by Technomic at the National Restaurant Association conference, and good news for those in the north suburbs as the opening of its second restaurant in Kennesaw just took place. This Newk’s sits at 745 Chastain Rd. NW Suite 1000, convenient to I-75 and 575 as well as Kennesaw State University. This franchise will mark Newk’s fifteenth restaurant in Georgia, growing to over 120 restaurants total. With fast free Wi-Fi and comfortable/airy dining areas, this location should be a hit with Kennesaw State students, staff and visitors.

“At Newk’s, great food drives us, and we’re excited to share our robust culinary-driven menu with more folks in Georgia and in the Kennesaw community,” said Stewart Slocum, CMO of Newk’s Eatery. “Our founder Chris Newcomb, who develops our dishes, is a true foodie, and his passion for big flavors and generous portions is brought to life in every dish. We source the finest seasonal ingredients, cooking with premium meats, seasonal vegetables, house-roasted garlic and house-infused olive oils. We take a hands-on approach to every meal, going the extra mile with our ingredients – even if that means importing from Europe. We house-make all of our own dressings, we hand-chop our vegetables, we slice our own meats, and we hand-roll our pizza dough – every morning, every day.”

Meals are prepared to-order in an open-view kitchen with a loaded menu that offers grilled and toasted sandwiches, entrée salads, different soups daily and hand-rolled pizzas for lunch and dinner. You can even pair two of the items: sandwiches, soups and salads.

Prime ingredients are used for every dish, including petite tenderloin steak, Atlantic salmon, all-white meat chicken breast and sushi-grade ahi tuna. All premium cuts are hand-sliced and flame-grilled. Newk’s also owns its own bakery, making signature Dozen-Layer Cakes every day with flavors like Strawberry, Caramel, Chocolate and a seasonal feature.

The centerpiece of the Newk’s dining room is The Roundtable – which offers a generous selection of free premium garnishes, including imported pepperoncini, Torinesi-style breadsticks, grated Parmesan, house-made croutons, bread & butter pickles, along with seasonal features like Fire & Ice pickles, pickled watermelon rinds or house-made giardiniera. Stop by and sample the goodies.

“We’ve only been open since October 1,” said Kennesaw General Manager, Mark Joseph. “People have already taken notice.”

He added that it’s a big plus to be so close to the growing Kennesaw State University campus.

Known for its collectible 32 oz. cup, Newk’s also features an Iced Tea Bar with fresh-brewed Rainforest Alliance Certified iced teas: unsweet, sweet, sweetened with Splenda® and a seasonal brew – now a Kenyan-grown Raspberry Iced Tea made with natural raspberries, blueberries, blackberries and currants. Eat in, take your meals to go, or run in for a “grab and go” quick meal. With fall here and winter approaching, you can’t go wrong with any of Newk’s soups.

Williams Food Group Two operates the new restaurant in Kennesaw, in addition to their other Newk’s restaurant at 1405 Spring Rd SE, Smyrna, Georgia. This new 3,896-square-foot layout will accommodate 145 guests and offers a covered patio with heating and air conditioning. It’s comfortable when the windows are open or the covers come down. The natural light makes it an ideal spot to check emails, breakout your laptop or have a impromptu meeting.

Newk’s in Kennesaw is open Monday through Sunday 10:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. For guests in a hurry, the restaurant will also feature online ordering, mobile app/skip the line options, the Express Market cooler section filled with Newk’s’ most popular fresh-made sandwiches, salads, soups, desserts and beverages. Catering is also available for groups of all sizes, with specialists on-site to assist in building the perfect spread. Think football tailgating or your next business conference.

With a great selection of fresh food choices, Newk’s prices are more than competitive and the friendly staff in Kennesaw will take care of all your needs- making you feel like a “regular.”
