The Outer Banks: Perfect for Late Summer and Early Fall

By Rick Limpert @RickRoswell · On August 1, 2014

There is still time.

Actually there is no better time than now to make your plans to for a late summer or fall getaway to The Outer Banks of North Carolina.

How do unspoiled beaches, ocean breezes, unlimited outdoor activities, and a plethora of lodging and dining options sound to you?

It’s sounds great to me, so you might want to get the car gassed up, or check the airfares and head to the Outer Banks of North Carolina.

The ocean breezes and the great hospitality is something to look forward to.

“The islands have enjoyed super sunny conditions in recent days, yet not too hot,” explains Lee Nettles, Executive Director of the Outer Banks Visitors Bureau.

What to do?

For anglers, the Outer Banks” are experiencing a fishing blitz. All season, regional recreational charter anglers are reporting catches of cobia, wahoo, mahi offshore and pier fishing for puppy drum has been excellent for weeks.

For those that want to be on the water, The Outer Banks offers every possible water sport.
Lighthouse lovers love the fact that the 1871 Bodie Island Lighthouse is open to climb for just its second summer ever.

Music and More

“We’re looking forward to seeing our return guests and welcome the chance to show new visitors why the Outer Banks of North Carolina speaks to the soul,” says Nettles. “We actually created a new hashtag, #OuterbanksSoul, which we encourage our guests and communities to use when they post photos and comments about what they love most about the barrier islands. Our website outerbanks.org offers easy access to local social media channels and all the info you need to find and book vacation experiences.”
