Bellwood Quarry Will Be New Atlanta Music Park

By Jeremy Jones @GAFollowers · On December 24, 2014

Within the next 3 years Bellwood Quarry will transform into a huge music park for Atlantan’s according to city councilman Michael Julian Bond. Right now, it’s 300 acres of woods and trash, plus the quarry itself. “But the plan is for it to be a huge new park on Atlanta’s Westside, and the committee dedicated to redeveloping the site will start meeting next year”, says Bond.

Bond explains that there’s a lot of cleaning that needs to be done before it opens. Because it serves as a dumping location for different things such as concrete remains from Atlanta’s old Fulton County stadium.

The city of Atlanta bought the 300-plus acres around Bellwood Quarry in 2006. Even if you’ve never been there, you may have seen it on TV in The Walking Dead, or in our 7 Places You Must Visit in Georgia, although it’s closed to the public right now.

This is an awesome idea…. and will only encourage more people to move on the westside… the Westside is a hidden untapped Gem…. and who doesn’t love a Music Park

Personally, I think this an absolutely TERRIBLE idea. I mean, sure. It would be rad if they made a venue like Red Rocks out in Colorado. However, this place is one of the ONLY places in Atlanta left that isn’t commercialized and deteriorated with money scheming cooperations. We need this place to stay the way it is for the sake of beauty and for the sake of Atlanta.
